Finally, some good seems to have come out of my interest in watching newer ads and posting reviews about them. The following comes from the new Tata Tea ad that aptly says Election ke din agar aap vote nahi kar rahe ho, toh aap so rahe ho, i.e. 'If on the election day, you are not voting then you are as good as asleep!'
Since I have written so much about bidding good-byes to politicians, let me now tell you how you can make a difference as well.
Hey,I've been awakened and I want you to be awake too. I realized how important it is to stop complaining but start voting to make a difference. And now, it's simpler than ever before!Jaago re! One Billion Votes - a nationwide movement on voter registration - has made it possible to fill a voter registration form online and that too in just 5 minutes!
Go to www.jaagore.com to learn more and register to vote right now.
If you have already registered to vote, you can still register with Jaago re! One Billion Votes movement and get periodic confirmation of your voter status, and election related news and reminders. Believe it or not, even registered voters sometimes do not figure in voter lists!
Go to www.jaagore.com for more information, and to learn about voting related rules and procedures.
Do it, man, do it! At 18, I am doing it too. Make a difference!

And what an entry it is
I was planning to register for long, but u gave the much needed motivation for lazzy fellas like me
Thankies :-)
I am 23 and I don't have a voter Id yet .. and I don't intend to either ... The way I see it I can still make a difference ... and I know i have opened a can of worms here so .. fire on ppl ..
I have registred already, but for those who will proceed to register, lemme say it is a tiring and enlongated process..:D
Thanks for the welcome!I'm happy I could spread the word :)
@descrying the shadows
Well, it's your choice.But where it's the country's loss, it's also yours.Don't you want 'your' country to have some good politicians, who will for a change think first about 'your' country?And pray, how do you propose to make a difference by 'not' voting?
@richa
Thanks a lot:)
I agree that the process still remains lengthy, but it's been cut by a tremendous amount. Take this from a person who's seen her mother running from pillar to post for the past 6 yrs. for an id after she lost it, and still not obtaining it! After I'm done with mine, I'm going to get hers done as well.
and a warm welcome to akanksha..
@above comment
was george orwell's '1984' the book that u read last?
And I am with Sid. The worst thing is, I have applie for one; been ages- I am yet to receive it! And I am tired of asking them again and again.
And please read the notice before you publish a post. Save it as a draft. The Administrators of the blog will publish it.
Peace.
Both of you need a special jagruti i guess
U people don't vote
Very bad, and unfortunate i must state.
and karthik, just to clear it out, i published this post :-)
Ummm... The post was in the pending list. So, was wondering how it was published... And well, I have a lot of patience- which unfortunately ran out, considering the number of times I have approached the necessary people to get my Voter-ID...
@Chinky Chinese
Your rigmarole reminds me of Chun-Su Li (of the 'Mind Your Language' fame... Anyone who has watched the series will know what I mean). At least you did not confuse your L's and R's... :P"
@Praveen
:D Who knows? 'Chairman Mao' has also been 'inspirational'...
@Palaniappan
Good luck... ;-)
I am aware of the tensions between the people of Taiwan and the Republic of China but wouldn't it have been better if you would've posted this on your own blog?Coz I can't see any interconnection between my post and your comment!
@praveen
Thank you :-)
@kartz
Why don't you try once more?This time do it through Jaago Re, it might give you a better response. And for the second part, well Tshhar cleared that!
@ramanathan
I'm glad you're doing it as well!:)
And people, sorry if I sound like a brand ambassador for Jaago Re. Just to clarify I'm not! It's just that it's a good initiative, and I feel it is up to us to spread the word and get more people involved.
@descrying the shadows
I'm still waiting for an answer...
Heh heh heh... Not to worry; never even thot of u as a brand ambassador dudette. And yeah, I regged long back (Jaago Re). Just tht the Voter-ID stuff got me p*ssed off...
Neways, no harm in trying again... Lets c...
Peace.
Country's loss ?
are you kidding me ? hey ask me if i am aware of what is happening around in this country .. I am .. and ask me why I do not want to vote, don't assume reasons for it ... i wud vote for an individual I deem fit but no i do not see anyone fit .. the day I do .. i will make my vote count .. till that day I will not let the fate depend on my vote ...
it's easy to get moved by such adds and i appreciate the spirit you people have .. nothing wrong with it, infact it's nice .. but hey tushar .. don say very bad without knowing the other persons reason ...
and one more thing ppl .. the individual again is dominated by his party agenda .. now tell me the person i should vote from the constituency I am in and why ?
convince me and I will do it .. else lets stick to our convictions and not talk about stuff considering this place to be an ideal one..
Dude, I'm not asking anyone to vote 'right' now. It was for getting a voter's id. An id is of use, not just for voting, but for a lot of other issues(legal ones of course like getting passports,etc).
If you feel no candidate deserves your vote, Indian Constitution provides you with a right to declare that as well. There's a form(which should ideally be available at all booths, I think) that you can fill up and declare the same. I have a forwarded mail regarding that provision but I'll have to dig it up. Will do so...
