Canada- A perfect choice for higher studies

Canada is one of the most preferred avenues for students seeking higher education abroad. Canadian universities and institutes offer Bachelor's degree, Master's degree and Doctoral or Ph.D. degree courses. To take admission in bachelor’s degree, the applicant needs to have a good educational background and minimum 12 years of earlier education (HSC equivalent). Apart from it, there are several institution specific admission criteria. To judge the language proficiency of students, most of the Canadian universities require IELTS band score of 6.0 to 6.5 or TOEFL CBT score 213 to 237 or TOEFL iBT 80 to 93. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) I is common to most of them and few universities require SAT II too. Average duration of studies in bachelor degrees is 3-4 years. For taking admission into master’s degree, the applicant needs to have good academic background and at least 16 years of education. He/she should possess language proficiency of IELTS band of 6.0 to 6.5 or TOEFL CBT sc...

Of blogs and websites and writers

Writers are becoming scarce commodities these days or is it that I just don't know where to look. Anyway, a friend of mind recently started a blog and chose this URL http://the-silver-spirit.blogspot.com/ Go through it once and boost and encourage her up. One thing, I observe in routine is the depth inside writing pieces are fading away and fading away fast. The quality of blogs which I used to read as an active blogger now I seldom see it. My own blogger friends who used to be, are now not too much into the writing scene. A drastic change. For we people write blogs for ourselves and not for others alone and hence the depth I feel should always be there. Anyway soon Jagruti, shall have advertisements and blog orangy, where usually we had content for the members who work on Orangy but now we shall incorporate content meant for the outsiders as well.

YOUTH:-Energetic, exuberant, Bold, brash, confused, demanding

Technically speaking “Youth” is the period between childhood and adulthood An age where every thing seems possible, where no challenge seems too big, where raw energy makes up for lack of experience. In earlier times people used to do a lot of manual work due to which they grew older at an early age but now with the advent of modern medicine, good transportation facilities and machines, the life span an individual has grown considerably. In modern times the word youth can be misleading as there is no particular age limit to capture this exuberance .Political parties recruit people for there youth wing whose ages are between 40 -50 yrs old But generally speaking people with ages varying from 15 -25 are included in youth . Young people are more energetic and over enthusiastic and the old more balanced and patient but at the same time, may lack the drive to change things. The youth in their enthusiasm overlook some finer details and jeopardize the journey; and the old, being overcautious...

GRE- gateway to higher studies in US

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test to evaluate verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and critical thinking and analytical writing skills of students for admission into United States graduate schools. This test is conducted by Educational Testing Service (ETS). It is an online examination conducted at different centres across the globe. Applicants can also opt for paper-based entrance test. GRE score has different level of significance for different US universities. Some treat it as one of the important admission factors while for some universities the score is a mere formality. Except the analytical writing section, rest three sections of GRE are multiple-choice ones. Out of the four sections there is one experimental section and has the least say in one’s GRE score. However, which section will come under the experimental category is a highly confidential one and test takers have no idea regarding it. Time allowed taking GRE test is 4 hours. In the analytic...

Media’s role during troubling times

Hi All, Love them or hate them, you just can’t ignore them goes an adage. This couldn’t apply more to the media than anything else today. Print, electronic or any other form of media pervades every aspect of our life; informing us and determining, to a reasonable extent, the formation of views and our response to developing situations. The ongoing Swine Flu Pandemic has highlighted the media’s role yet again in informing, educating, spreading information and awareness among the masses. In fact, I reckon, without the proactive media we have today in this country, the flu could have posed a much bigger threat than it currently does. Having said this, there are proponents of the argument that media is primarily doing this for the sake of TRPs. Undoubtedly there is great public interest surrounding this flu and media outlets just want to cash in on this frenzy. They point out that we experience greater numbers of mortality just due to preventable diseases like malaria etc. So...
